.
FUNCTION: Non-catalytic subunit of the N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphotransferase complex, an enzyme that catalyzes the formation of mannose 6-phosphate (M6P) markers on high mannose type oligosaccharides in the Golgi apparatus. Binds and presents the high mannose glycans of the acceptor to the catalytic alpha and beta subunits (GNPTAB). Enhances the rate of N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate transfer to the oligosaccharides of acid hydrolase acceptors. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10712439, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19955174}.FUNCTION: Might normally function as a transcriptional repressor. EWS-fusion-proteins (EFPS) may play a role in the tumorigenic process. They may disturb gene expression by mimicking, or interfering with the normal function of CTD-POLII within the transcription initiation complex. They may also contribute to an aberrant activation of the fusion protein target genes.
